Education, care, and human connection in the land of the Savannah
Tanzania is a country of extraordinary natural beauty—vibrant in colour, sound, and life. Yet behind the hills and along the shores, there are quiet stories of poverty, inequality, and daily struggle, lived by thousands of children.
Our mission has been—and remains—not just to give, but to offer opportunity: for learning, for dignity, and for hope.

1
Education in Saadani
A school born from collaboration and heart
In 2012, in the town of Saadani, a primary school for around 200 underprivileged children opened its doors—thanks to our collaboration with the NGO Sana, led by Greek founder Mr. Kostas Koukoulis.
Our contribution included:
-
Purchasing desks for the classrooms
-
Donating gifts to the children (school supplies, hygiene products, uniforms)
-
Being present with love on the school’s first day
That first day was a celebration—laughter, songs, smiles. For many children, it was the first time they entered a classroom, the first time they claimed a place in education—and in the world.

Feeding Minds—Literally
The school garden: nourishment, learning, self-reliance
In 2017, we renewed our support with a meaningful, practical gesture:
We funded the creation of a school vegetable garden, where children and teachers grow tomatoes, lettuce, beans, and other staples—used to prepare daily school meals.
But the garden is more than food. It is:
-
A lesson in agriculture and care
-
An exercise in responsibility
-
A source of dignity and self-worth
When a child eats from something they have helped grow, they learn they are capable of creating, nurturing, and progressing.

Partnership and Solidarity
Not just support—a friendship
Our relationship with Sana is not a transaction. It’s a friendship based on trust and mutual respect.
Through our ongoing collaboration with Mr. Koukoulis and the local community, we’ve built something invaluable: continuity. This is not a one-time donation, but a shared journey, where we listen, co-decide, and remain present.

Parallel Support to the Orthodox Mission
Faith in action—respectful and rooted in the local culture
In Tanzania, we have also supported the missionary work of Bishop Dimitrios of Irinoupolis—a humble and loving figure devoted to the people.
His mission is not just the teaching of Orthodoxy—but a blend of spiritual care and practical service: building schools, strengthening communities, and ensuring children are fed and educated.
His example reminds us that faith, when combined with action, moves hearts and changes lives.

Our Vision for Tanzania
What began with a school and a few desks has grown. A garden followed. Trust was built. And it continues—because there are still children who need a helping hand to rise.
6
Why Do We Help?
Because every child who attends school...
Because every child who eats with dignity…
Because every child who believes their future matters, gives us a reason to carry on.
