Love People has maintained a consistent presence for years in five African countries: Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our aim is to provide meaningful support to children, families, and local communities living in extreme poverty, focusing on education, nutrition, healthcare, self-sufficiency, and support for the Orthodox Mission.

We believe that providing education to children in Africa, offering daily meals to students, helping poor families grow their own food, and building communities with dignity and respect are some of the most powerful tools for creating lasting change from within.

Our work in Burundi began in 2007 with the founding of a primary school in Buhorama. Since then, the project has expanded to include a secondary school and high school, now serving over 1,100 students. Many of these children are orphans with no stable support. The school provides not only education but also daily meals, clean water, school uniforms, basic healthcare, and creative activities.

A core part of our work is the “Children of the Heart” programme, through which individuals can sponsor a child for €20 per year, offering sustainable aid to dozens of families. We have also developed agriculture and water supply projects to support food security and self-reliance within the school community.

In Uganda, we focus on both education and the care of orphaned children. In Kayunga, we supported a public secondary school by donating computers and funding the construction of new classrooms, improving learning conditions for over 500 students.

In Monte, we supported the orphanage “Saint Mary of Egypt”, home to 60 children. We donated sewing machines to enable the production of clothing and generate income, as well as poultry equipment for food production. Our support improved both the nutrition and education of the children. The orphanage receives no government assistance, making external support absolutely essential. Our involvement stands as a strong example of long-term, respectful care for orphaned children in Africa.

In Rwanda, our mission combines Orthodox outreach with social empowerment. Since 2012, we supported the construction of the first Orthodox church in the country, contributing to spiritual and community renewal in areas deeply affected by civil conflict.

In 2014, we launched the “Help for Help” programme, which promotes self-sufficiency among local communities. Through land rental, sewing machines, and livestock donations, we helped dozens of families increase food production and economic activity. The programme is built on principles of collaboration, dignity, and independence.

In Tanzania, our partnership with the NGO Sana and its president, Mr. Kostas Koukoulis, led to the creation of a primary school in Saadani in 2012. We supported the school by donating desks, learning materials, and gifts for the children.

In 2017, we funded the creation of a school vegetable garden, providing fresh produce for the students’ meals. We also support the missionary work of Bishop Dimitrios of Irinoupolis, who blends spiritual teaching with community aid in local Tanzanian villages.

Since 2012, Love People has collaborated with Father Riziki Mubigalo Dominioye in the city of Uvira, supporting a primary and secondary school with over 450 students. In 2018, we launched a daily meal programme, offering breakfast to every student.

We also rented 20 acres of farmland, supporting 40 families in cultivating maize, potatoes, and cassava to improve food security. Our work in the Congo exemplifies how agricultural support can lead to long-term sustainability and social empowerment across African communities.

The entire mission of Love People in Africa is built on trust, long-standing partnerships with local organisations, and a shared belief: help is only meaningful when it is given with love, consistency, and respect. We support children not only with what they need today—but with what they need to hope for a better tomorrow.
